Project Management

project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools,
and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements. — PMI®

My Journey into Project Management

It all started with a conversation...

A couple of project managers at IBM generously took time from their day to talk to me about the profession. Their passion and insight sparked my own — and that moment changed my career path.

Here are the milestones since that decision:

  • Mentorship: I found a mentor — someone who truly loves the craft and enjoys sharing their knowledge.
  • Formal Education: Completed a one-year Project Management certificate at the University of Toronto - School of Continuing Studies.
  • First PM Role: Stepped into my first real assignment as an Associate Project Manager, supporting a client initiative.
  • Promotion: Landed my first official PM role and learned from seasoned peers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Major Win: Led a two-year, enterprise-level project from start to finish.
  • Experience:
  • Managed over 40 projects of various sizes — many of them running simultaneously.
  • PMP® Certified: Passed the PMP® exam (AT/AT/AT) on December 2, 2024 — after months of focused prep. (Stay tuned: I’ll be sharing my study tips here soon!)
  • Certified: Built on my Agile/Hybrid knowledge and passed the Certified Scrum Master (CSM®) exam on January 19, 2025.
